Take me to your leader

i knew over a year ago i wanted a server. i was doing things with my computer that were way harder than they should have been because i was going about it in the wrong way. i was good with computers, but mainly Windows, and i already knew linux was coming the way House Stark knows winter is coming. so i asked reddit what to do.

over the last year, i have asked every smart and dumb question there is on my home server journey. i can happily say most of the advice i got was great and i successfully run multiple home servers now in many locations.

however, i still see these same questions being asked repeatedly and sometimes the answers arent so good. as such, i now write this blog. it saves me on the typing. this blog is for me, over one year ago. it would have saved me a lot of headache (and money). its also written for people who have never heard of any of this before.

now i give it to anyone asking the same questions i did. one topic per question, written as simply and directly as i can. sorry if its not perfect, but it should definitely get you started. good luck on your journey. im still on mine and loving every minute of it.
