Selfh.st Survey 2024

For anyone who doesn't know, there are a few great guys out there hosting a site (and now a YouTube channel) for self hosted hobbyists. Their newsletter is amazing and I read it every week to make sure there are no upcoming breaking changes in any of my apps, as well as to get an idea about cool new things being released. Its a really solid resource to see what the current landscape is in the self hosted world looks like.

One of the annual highlights is their survey which gives stats on everything about self hosting, including user demographics. I love seeing this because not only do I get to see how common some of the things I am hosting are, but I also see things which I may not know anything about and want to try. It helps me cover any blind spots I may have since there are literally over a million docker containers available.
